Important information
Before your treatment
With a little preparation your chosen therapy will be more beneficial to you and more enjoyable.
- If you are a new client we will have had a short phone call before your appointment to ensure that you have booked a suitable treatment, this is a great opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
- Showering before your treatment will remove any creams etc. from the skin and hair allowing the products used during your treatment to be more easily absorbed.
- Hair may become a little oily and disheveled during some treatments where the scalp, neck and face are massaged. You may wish to bring a hair tie to use afterwards.
- For massage treatments it is advisable not to wear your best clothing, as a small amount of product may transfer from your skin to your clothing.
- Avoid U.V tanning sessions (or sunbathing) for at least 24 hours after massage treatments, some essential oils may react with U.V light and could cause an irritation to your skin.
- If you have booked an appointment which involves massage of the facial area, it is best to arrive with minimal or no make- up.
- Do not eat a large meal before your treatment, this may cause you some discomfort during your session.
- Please refrain from alcohol and non prescription drug’s 24 hours prior to and directly after your appointment, the effectiveness of the treatment will be limited if this advice is not followed.
- Leave your jewelry at home as it will probably need to be removed before the treatment begins.
- Try to arrange some quiet time after your therapy session, you may experience deep relaxation and will need time to yourself before returning to you daily routine.
During Your Treatment.
- At you first appointment, make sure to be honest during the consultation to ensure that the treatment will be appropriate for you.
- Its best to put your phone and smart smart watch onto silent so that you are not disturbed.
- I will fully explain what you need to do during your visit, which clothes to remove (if necessary), how to position yourself etc.
- If you are receiving therapies that require the removal of some clothing you will be given privacy during this time.
- During massage therapies underwear must be worn, your modesty is maintained throughout with sheet/towel draping techniques so that only the part of the body begin massaged is revealed.
- I try to provide a space that is sensory friendly, the lighting, music, types of sheets/coverings, essential oils are all able to be changed to your preference. I do use aromatherapy oils throughout the day so there will always be a "scent" in the room, but the window can be opened. There are fidgets in the room for client use.
- Tell me if you need anything changed during your session, such as pressure adjustments, if you are cold, need extra pillows etc.
- Your modesty, comfort and relaxation are my top priorities during your visit.
After your treatment.
Following these few small steps can enhance your treatment experience.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Allow your body to rest afterwards, ideally go home and chill out for a few hours.
- Refrain from or cut down on both alcohol and smoking, these things may decrease the effectiveness of your treatment.
- To gain full benefit from any oils that may have been used, you may wish to avoid showering for a few hours after your therapy.
- Remember that sun beds and sun bathing must be avoided after massage therapies as some essential oils are photosensitive and may cause irritation to the skin.
- After massage refrain from swimming afterwards as the essential oils will be washed off and may even react with the chlorine.
- Try to have an early night!
